Private property is, amazingly, not protected under law at the municipal levels. Too often cities are allowed to take one’s property by force.
As senator, I would pass legislation that provides protection and certainty for property owners. Cities and municipalities would no longer be able to change zoning classification at will. Successful redevelopment programs do not need cities to obtain property by force. When this occurs, the environments these programs were intended to improve are often worsened.
